The Scheme expands its activity with management of products and services related to account-to-account instant payments
As of January 1st 2020, following the decision of the Board of Directors of BORICA AD, the National Card Scheme has been renamed to National Card and Payment Scheme (NCPS).
With this resolution, the National Card and Payment Scheme expands its activity with management of products and services related to account-to-account instant payments (Instant Payments). In a number of European countries, the local payment schemes have already been successfully implemented. The main advantage for both customers and merchants is the faster account-to-account payment service through omni-channels, including merchant payments through mobile (onsite and online).
Along with the program of BORICA AD for the development of new national payment infrastructure for Instant Payments, the National Card and Payment Scheme team (NCSP) is already working on the standards development for Instant Payments that will be applicable for the Scheme Participants. In the following months, NCPS will introduce the new standards, rules and the business model to be approved, aiming to define Payment Institutions Roles as an account-to-account Instant Payments Originator and Instant Payments Beneficiary, the fee exchange model, Fraud prevention, dispute rules, and the clients and merchants obligations, etc.
The National Card and Payment Scheme will continue to operate under the Bcard brand in terms of card payments, while Instant Payments will be identified under the Blink brand.
